So Much Laughter, So Much Joy

Since the last update, we have had so many beautiful milestones. The biggest of which is that the babies, the precious little forever babies, turned 3 on the 8th of last month. There were a lot of tears, a lot of disbelief & a lot of requests for mom to stop talking… because a party needed to be had!

With this news came the realization, once again, that the twins are no longer babies… but full-fledged little people with very specific opinions. Opinions such as wanting to start school & ride a school bus. Or discussing what the best park in our area is. Or arguing if someone is actually at our house, like when Auntie GeeGee came to visit & had a conference call upstairs -- "She's NOT here", "Yes she is, I heard her" rang out of their mouths over & over again.

Hunter has jumped out ahead as the conversationalist… asking, confirming, and questioning everything from what I am doing to where a plane might be traveling to. He wants to know what is going on, when things will happen & he is almost always very reasonable when it comes to his needs. His needs? Well, those are pretty simple… eating food he likes (pretty much anything), watching toonies he likes (very specific, depending on the day/week) & going to places he likes (his cousin Rhen's house).

Daily habits for the Hunts? Waking up wide awake right at 7am, let the talking begin! Very “ME” focused, what is he going to eat, what is he going to do. Such a boys boy, refining his tastes into race cars (red or blue), trains & planes. Not boats so much as they are very load & scary. He makes up names for things, like a present his lovely Godmother Nanda got him is called “Present Car” OR his favorite show is “Cooper Wings” as he has a hard time with pronouncing “s”. And last of all, my biggest struggle by far as a parent, has been potty training this little turkey. It’s been a work in progress that is on my mind 25 hours a day. But seemingly not on his.

Lucy has become, how do I say this, even more complicated. She is very aware of her surroundings, still a lover of books but she keeps to herself quite often & goes from being highly independent to highly needy depending on the situation. I have no doubt she knows how loved she is but the world is a big place & I notice her constantly trying to find her way in it. It actually makes me sad a bit, as one of my few memories as a child myself was the desire to want to be an adult. I sense Lucy may feel the same in her own little way. Stay young, little one, stay young.

Daily habits for the Goose? She loves long showers, sitting with me on my lap, ordering our new dog around & playing dress-up. She wakes up VERY slowly each day, it takes about an hour my friends (what?). And if anyone loses anything (including herself), she is quick to find it – as she has logged, categorized every single toy & book in the house.

Even though our summer was much more low key than years past, we did take a few fun trips to Santa Barbara, California to visit our friends Ang & her family as well as a trip to Lincoln City, Oregon to enjoy all that the beach has to offer – from sailing kites, to jumping in the waves to exploring caves with Papa. And in late September, the kids started preschool, just a few hours a week at a local school with truly wonderful families & teachers. But probably the biggest news of the last few months was that we adopted a dog, Muska, or Mooshi, that is all things grumpy, old man. People say he is quite handsome but we are really too busy to notice.

I thought it might be cute to document some of the statements the twins make, just to give a little context to their growing personality.

“Does Mooshi love me?” – Hunter

“I NEED a snack!” – Lucy

“Mom, PLEASE, stop talking.” - Lucy

“Mom, I missed you so much last night.” (last night being while he slept) – Hunter

“Mom, does Rhen love me?” - Hunter

“Rhen is my best friend” – Hunter

“IsaidIwasgoingtodoitbutyoupromisedPRINCESSCASTLE.” - Lucy

"PrincesseseatcookiesandsoshouldIsogivemeonerightNOW." - Lucy

"I JUST went" (referring to a request to go potty) -- Hunter
